Karen E. McNabb, CFP®, Advisor Associate with Waddell & Reed, Inc. began developing a sense of integrity, hard work, and a passion for helping people early in her teens. A native to Virginia Beach, Virginia she began helping her peers in co-authoring a teen advice column for her local newspaper during her senior year of high-school. This sense of compassion led to her completing her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She began working with adjudicated adolescents and their families, developing goals and strategies to help the family become a more cohesive unit.
Karen’s knack for business with her innate desire for helping people pursue their goals enabled her to transition into the finance industry with Waddell & Reed, Inc. With the guidance of her long-time mentor, Patrick Tedesco, CFP®, she realized she could use her counseling experience in this industry by helping clients develop and prioritize their financial goals. In 2015, Karen became a Financial Advisor. Karen works to help clients understand the complexities of the market that relate to their financial goals by taking the time to educate clients in a collaborative way. Because she values education and always is learning, Karen fulfilled the requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional to further develop her experience in empowering her clients to take control of their futures.
Karen is a firm believer of “family first” and is married to her wonderful husband, Cody – her “high school sweetheart.” Together they spend much of their time outdoors playing with their young daughter, Christa, and their two dogs. Karen also loves to garden, active in her bowling league, her community, church, and is an avid sports fan.
