What I do:

I help my clients pursue their financial future through a detailed financial planning process that focuses on their ability to determine their life goals. I educate, offer solutions and consult on how to pursue these goals through realistic planning strategies. I arm my clients with the information and resources they need to make educated decisions that can help them pursue their goals.


Why I get up in the morning:

I love collaborating with my clients on their individual situations and have a passion for helping people. I enjoy helping my clients understand their options through an educational approach free from complicated industry jargon. However, what I love most is working with a client for the first time and seeing their appreciation for the clarity that our financial planning process can bring them.


Clients I work best with:

Individuals who want a clear and realistic understanding of their financial future. Business owners who want help sorting through a complicated portfolio strategy. Human resources professionals who manage company retirement plans. People who are in transition (job change, relocation, loss of a spouse, divorce, etc.)


What I tell clients:

Don’t panic! It’s easy to find bad news that will cause you to want to make quick decisions regarding your long-range investments. I believe having a plan of action in place with an thoughtful strategy helps my clients understand what they are invested in, why they are invested in it and its correlation with the goal they are pursuing. At the end of the day, there are a lot of ways to measure retirement success, but I think it boils down to one thing: Having the means to do what you want, when you want … And that’s my goal for each of my clients, no matter their current situation.


How I got here:

I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. I spent 15 years in the newspaper business as a sports journalist and won numerous awards during my time in that field. However, I wanted to make more of an impact in people’s lives. In 2007, I saw the opportunity for a career change and became licensed as an insurance agent. I added my securities license in 2010 and joined Waddell & Reed at that time.


Who I really am:

A husband, a father of four extraordinary girls, a hockey player, a fan of all things Detroit, an outdoors enthusiast who loves camping and exploring our National Parks and an advocate for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
